Wedding Gown Cleaning and Preservation

When you plan your wedding, the last thing that you keep in mind is the preparation and cleaning of your gown. It is, notheless, one of the most important parts of your wedding, before and after.

Society Cleaners is considered a high-end dry cleaning service that exists in Miami for close to fifty years. You can’t even imagine how many wedding gowns have walked in and out of this family-owned dry cleaning service. Their knowledge and expertise is unquestionable. You want to trust someone with your $10,000 wedding gown? Well, it might as well be Socity.

I went to visit the business myself, and came across two generations of a family working hand-in-hand with each other. The owner of Society Cleaners is an over 80 year-old man who still comes into the store everyday to see what is happening in his business. His daughter Lourdes is the one who runs this business today. It is rare to find a person that is so in love with her business and can really be considered an expert in the industry, in order to provide customers with the best service possible.

Before the Wedding Day

In order for your wedding dress to look perfect on that special day, you need to make sure that it is cleaned and steamed properly, to look immaculate. It is not always easy to go through this process yourself. Wedding gowns are very delicate and need to be handled with care. Industry experts only, have the necessary expertise and knowledge about how different kinds of delicate fabrics need to be handled.

Bridal Valet

Society Cleaners offers their brides a bridal valet, where Lourdes and her professional staff will help the bride put on her gown before walking down the isle, making sure that it looks immaculate. Another part of this job is helping the bride look her best during the photo session with her family. They even bring a valet suitcase with all emergency utensils that may be needed for the bride and her gown. This includes extra bra straps, pins and needles, a steamer, hairpins…etc. With Lourdes and her staff by your side you won’t have any "wardrobe malfunctions."

After the Wedding Day

After your wedding is when you say, now what do I do with my wedding gown? Your wedding has probably been the most important day of your life and one of the most valuable memories of your wedding is your wedding gown. To keep it as beautiful as it was on your wedding day it’s necessary to put it through a process of cleansing and preserving. No stain or dirt on your wedding gown is too tough for Society Cleaners to handle. They have a very specialized machine that has been programmed to process the wedding gowns in a slow and delicate manner in order to preserve the fabric. After cleaning, it will be hand steamed, and put together in a special box that will keep the gown clean and allow for the colors not to fade for many years to come. Now the possibility of passing your wedding dress on to your daughter is a reality.
