Society Cleaners Makes ‘Miami Favorites’ Again

Capping a year of awards and recognitions, The Miami Herald announced today that Society Cleaners was voted a “Miami-Dade Favorite” in the dry-cleaning category. This award is significant to a company that for over five decades has been providing reliable fabric care and excellence in customer service. A South Florida client base has remained loyal to our legacy of excellence in handling couture gowns, formalwear, bespoke shirts, suits and business attire. The name “Society Cleaners” is immediately associated with friendly service and high standards in the distinctive pink Art Deco building.

It is important for us to thank those who voted and our loyal friends and customers who make doing business a true pleasure.

Society Cleaners Recognized with Two Awards

In its almost 55 years under the same family management, Society Cleaners has received numerous awards for its commitment to excellence in the care of fine garments and its customer service. In addition to a feature in The Miami Herald (Spanish), WPLG (Channel 10), the Key to the City of Coral Gables and a Dade County Proclamation, this week Society can proudly announce two other recognitions that honor its tradition: “Coral Gables Best 2024” and  “2024 Best of Yelp ‘People Love us on Yelp.’”

 Mr. Jeremy Hopperman, CEO of Yelp wrote “we are proud to recognize Society Cleaners as one of the highest-rated and best-reviewed businesses on Yelp. There are over 6 million active claimed business pages on our platform and over 287 million cumulative reviews, so to have such high ratings and positive reviews is no small feat.”

In view of these acknowledgments, we have to thank our loyal clientele that encourages us to maintain the high standards that have warranted these awards. Society Cleaners, a personal history

A Coral Gables icon, Society Cleaners has been recognized by WPLG Channel 10, The Miami Herald, Wedding Wire, and has received awards from the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce, Miami-Dade County and the City of Coral Gables.

"I am proud to be a Gables resident and business owner," according to Lourdes Sanchez, the proprietor of Society Cleaners. "The Coral Gables community is a special one ... that I take great pride in serving."

There is a personal story: Ms. Sanchez, an accountant, left a corporate job to take over Society Cleaners. She took the time to become a certified yoga instructor and therapist studying with internationally recognized masters. 

An art collector, she is a regular visitor to the Norton Museum in Palm Beach during the season, the Dali and Museum of Fine Arts, Saint Petersburg. In New York, the Metropolitan and MoMA have always been priorities. In 2024, she took a special tour of the pre-Romanesque architecture in Northern Spain.

With an eclectic ear for music, she loves the jazz giants Sarah Vaughan, Etta James, Ella Fitzgerald, Satchmo, and composer and lyricist Cole Porter.

From Thailand to Bali to remote villages in Spain and Italy, Ms. Sanchez has a wanderlust that nourishes her knowledge of fabrics, couture and folk attire as cultural expressions.
